About Bill

Dr. William Pekoc is a Licensed Clinical psychologist with more than a decade of experience working for clients in Chicago from virtually every walk of life. His approach to psychotherapy is direct, collaborative, non-directive, and insight-oriented. Bill emphasizes meeting challenges head-on and developing self-awareness as a strategy for making affirmative choices about one’s life and behavior.

In therapy with Bill, you can expect a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental relationship. Through this relationship, you will together explore difficult experiences and emotions and come to understand the process by which these things might lead to the challenges and difficulties in your life. For Bill, the goal of therapy is not simply a reduction in symptoms but the development of insight into how and why those symptoms emerged in the first place. Ideally, Bill wants you to leave therapy with the tools to understand your internal world and make informed choices about when and how you react to life’s challenges.

Bill earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from DePaul University in Chicago. He went on to earn a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and a Doctor of Psychology with a Psychodynamic Concentration from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Bill completed fellowships at both the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis and Institute of Psychoanalysis in Chicago. Bill has worked in hospital settings, long term clinical settings, and therapeutic high school settings. He has been in private practice with high-functioning adults since 2014.

While Bill is experienced with a variety of concerns and can work with most clients, he has extensive experience working with:
