Anxiety Treatment

Do you often find yourself feeling on edge, uptight, and restless?

Do you tend to overthink and second guess your decisions?

Does it feel like your fears and worries are constant and debilitating?

Anxiety can be so difficult to manage, and left unaddressed often becomes more and more powerful- to the point that it can feel as though it controls nearly every aspect of our lives! Maybe you’re so overwhelmed from battling your anxiety that you feel as though you have little left for what matters most to you.

Sometimes it can be hard to understand why we are feeling so anxious and where it comes from. Our genetics, past life experiences, and go-to coping strategies, as well as day to day work stress, relational challenges, and health concerns can all contribute to an increased experience of anxiety. Fear for ourselves and our loved ones, as well as worry about all the challenges our world is experiencing can become so painful and overwhelming that daily tasks like working and caring for ourselves and loved ones can be hard to focus on.

Common Reasons to Seek Anxiety Treatment:

  • Nervousness, restlessness
  • Difficulty sitting still
  • Being “on edge” or tense
  • Circular thinking or the endless cycle of revisiting a thought in your head
  • Anxiety surrounding a particular life event from the past
  • Lack of self-confidence that results in lack of trust and self-doubt
  • Feelings of panic or dread
  • Rapid breathing, heart racing, jittery
  • Increased sweating or stomach tenseness
  • Trembling or muscle twitching
  • Panic attacks
  • Weakness or lethargy
  • Difficulty concentrating or focusing on anything else
  • Problems falling asleep and/or staying asleep
  • Appetite changes

Anxious thoughts and feelings can be so pervasive and painful that it can be difficult to focus on much else. Not only are one’s thoughts filled with worst case scenarios and dread, but our whole body can be impacted such as feeling on edge, having an upset stomach, or even as though it’s difficult to breathe.

In other words, our mind (our thoughts) and our body (our physical sensations) are intricately linked- for example, the more we think about worst case scenarios, the more our body reacts such as increased heart rate, upset stomach, and/or muscle tension and tightness.

Anxiety comes in many forms and is a response to experiencing more stress than our nervous system can manage. Good stress is short-term and inspires and motivates us, focuses our energy and enhances performance. However, unhealthy stress wears us out, leaves us feeling uneasy, and can impact our emotional and physical well being.
