Elly Calderwood Headshot

Elly Calderwood

MA, Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Psychotherapist

Elly is a relational therapist who works to deeply understand the complexities of her clients’ stories and the strengths they already hold. She believes that the relationship you have with yourself—and the story you tell about your life—shapes how you experience the world. In therapy, she helps clients explore how their pasts influence the present, supporting them in shifting their narratives and creating meaningful change in how they relate to themselves and others.

With a client-centered and strength-based approach, Elly aims to create a collaborative space grounded in trust, transparency, and curiosity. She understands that healing is a deeply personal process and views her role as a guide and partner in your journey toward clarity and connection. Whether navigating anxiety, mood challenges, body image concerns, neurodivergence, or relational dynamics, Elly’s work is tailored to each individual’s needs and goals.

Elly earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University, Irvine. Her education emphasized psychodynamic therapy and a relational lens, allowing her to connect with clients on a deeper level. During her training, Elly worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, specializing in treating anxiety, eating disorders, and mood concerns, while receiving training in evidence-based modalities like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and family-based therapy (FBT).

Elly’s therapeutic style is rooted in empathy, exploration, and the belief that growth happens when we feel seen and understood. She believes in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship, helping clients uncover their own resilience and develop the agency to navigate life’s complexities with authenticity and strength.

core beliefs:

  • Our past informs us, but it doesn’t define us—we have the agency to shift our narratives and grow in ways that are meaningful to us.

  • Healing and growth thrive when we feel seen, understood, and connected to those who support us.

more about me:

Elly has a deep curiosity for life and loves engaging in thoughtful, meaningful conversations. Outside the therapy room, you’ll often find her discovering new music, dancing around the house, or enjoying a good documentary. She’s also a huge fan of baseball, especially spending time with her dad at games. When she’s not doing that, she’s seeking out great food—whether it’s cooking or finding new spots to try in the city. She believes in keeping things real with a little sarcasm along the way, and loves a good laugh in between the serious stuff.
